    Over 26 species of bacteria, such as Legionella pneumonia, which can cause the pneumonia-like illness called "Legionnaires' Disease" (after the American Legion convention at which the disease first drew attention). These bacteria are known to thrive at about 100 degrees F and are believed to live in infected humidifiers, cooling tower water, and shower rooms. Infection is by inhalation.
