Water containing total hardness in the amount of one grain per U.S. gallon (or more) measured as calcium carbonate equivalent. Whitish scale deposits in pipes, water heater, and tea kettle. No limits. Problems can occur with the water pressure after excessive build up. Iron (red, brown, yellow, and orange staining) is NOT hardness.
